Youth Development
Young children often forget the lessons they were taught. They never forget the adult who believed they could do hard things. That's what this role is about.
At Alpha, academic learning happens in just two hours per day through adaptive technology. This frees you—our Guides—to focus on the work that truly transforms lives: cultivating confidence, resilience, communication skills, and the drive to persevere through difficulty. Your day won't be spent lecturing from the front of a room. Instead, you'll coach students through obstacles, honor their progress, and model what rigorous standards look like when combined with unwavering belief.
You'll guide a single K-3 cohort band—either Kindergarten-1st grade or 2nd-3rd grade. Half your time is dedicated to facilitating dynamic, one-hour workshops focused on life skills such as public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback. The other half involves coaching children individually and in small groups, leveraging learning analytics to ensure every student advances toward ambitious weekly objectives. Every moment counts. Students should emerge from your workshops more skilled and from your coaching sessions more confident in their own potential.
This position is not suited for someone seeking to deliver traditional curriculum or manage a conventional classroom. It's designed for someone passionate about inspiring young learners, energized by measurable progress, and convinced that the right coach can alter a child's future. If you've motivated children as an educator, athletic coach, camp counselor, youth mentor, or performer, you'll discover a distinctly different kind of learning environment here.
This is a full-time, on-site position at an Alpha campus. We recruit nationally, so job postings may appear in nearby cities that do not currently host a campus.
Current openings for this compensation tier are located in Scottsdale, AZ;
Oklahoma City and Tulsa, OK;
Nashville, TN;
Austin, Georgetown, Dallas, Plano, Fort Worth, and Houston, TX; and Park City (Salt Lake City area), UT.
If another Alpha campus interests you, submit your application regardless and indicate your preferred location—we'll consider you for the relevant opening.
What You Will Be Doing- Facilitate dynamic life-skills workshops that enable K-3 students to build communication, concentration, feedback, and other enduring skills through hands‑on participation instead of passive listening.
- Provide one‑on‑one and small‑group coaching, utilizing Coachbot analytics, established motivation frameworks, and meaningful relationships to ensure every child progresses toward ambitious weekly learning targets.
- Evaluate life‑skill competency through Alpha's Test2
Pass framework, guiding students until they exhibit genuine mastery—not merely attendance. - Tailor your coaching approach to your cohort's developmental stage, whether that involves songs, movement, and narratives for younger children or greater autonomy and responsibility for older students.
- Cultivate relationships where students feel secure enough to extend themselves beyond their perceived limits.
- Delivering academic instruction from a whiteboard. Students acquire academics through adaptive technology.
- Creating curriculum from the ground up. You'll refine and customize proven frameworks rather than designing lessons from scratch.
- Observing students work quietly on devices. Your role centers on active coaching, encouragement, and engagement.
- Reducing standards when students face difficulty. Growth comes from supporting students to meet the goal, not adjusting the goal downward.
- Overseeing homework, grading assignments, or managing routine parent correspondence.
