Position Summary:The Specially Designed Instructional Coordinator serves as a guide and resource for educators to effectively implement specially designed instruction across the district. This role emphasizes coaching, supporting, and mentoring teachers in the use of evidence-based strategies and curriculum to improve outcomes for students with disabilities. The Coordinator works collaboratively with school teams and district leadership to ensure compliance, promote instructional fidelity, and enhance student achievement.
This position is grant-funded; continuation is contingent on the availability of grant funding.
- Coaches and mentors teachers in implementing specially designed instruction
- Develops and delivers professional development for teachers and support staff
- Monitors the fidelity of specially designed instruction implementation across the district
- Supports alignment of instruction with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and district goals
- Analyzes student performance data to guide instructional coaching and targeted support
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in special education or a related field required
- Master’s degree preferred
- Valid Driver’s License required
- Three (3) years of experience in special education, including implementation of specially designed instruction
- Proven experience in mentoring, coaching, or providing professional development
Certifications:
- Valid Oklahoma teaching certificate in Special Education (required at hire)
- Familiarity with federal and state special education laws and regulations
- In-depth knowledge of specially designed instruction and evidence-based practices for students with disabilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite
- Proficient in technology tools for education and data management
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with educators
- Ability to analyze data and use it to inform coaching and instructional decisions
- Open to change and applies critical thinking while developing solutions based on new guidelines, methods, and techniques
- Ability to manage both up and down and create buy-in from individuals with diverse perspectives and backgrounds
