Job Description & How to Apply Below
  • $100,000 annual salary, paid each week, including health, dental, and vision coverage from day one
  • Full-time on-site position at an Alpha campus in Phoenix, AZ;
    Oklahoma City or Tulsa, OK;
    Fort Worth (Keller), Dallas, Plano, or The Woodlands, TX; or Park City (Salt Lake City), UT (relocation assistance available)
  • 40-hour work week, entirely classroom-based with students in grades K-2

You have invested years building expertise in structured literacy—Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson, IMSE, or perhaps a Master's in reading instruction. You listen to a student's reading error and immediately identify the phonemic weakness. You construct phonics lessons independently, without reliance on scripted materials. That level of knowledge is expected. It is not what distinguishes you.

What distinguishes you is the way six-year-olds respond when you enter the classroom. At Alpha, this position is fundamentally a Guide role: you must be a captivating, high-energy presence that children genuinely enjoy learning with. Your structured-literacy credentials open the door; your capacity to engage a K-2 group for a focused 20-minute session is what secures the offer. If the phrase "captivating, high-energy presence" does not accurately reflect your teaching style, this role will not be a fit.

Alpha has redesigned traditional schooling. Students progress through academic content autonomously using AI-adaptive applications - there are no lectures, no textbooks, and no district pacing calendars. This role represents the one area where human expertise cannot be replicated. You will create small-group reading workshops informed by live student performance data, and you will facilitate motivation sessions designed to ensure 100% of students reach their weekly app targets through Alpha's motivational framework (school currency, leaderboards, developmentally appropriate gamification).

Your initial months will focus on building rapport and credibility with students. Workshops must be engaging, appropriately leveled, and demonstrably effective. Student satisfaction metrics and "love your Guide" feedback surveys (with a 90%+ target) provide direct accountability. Once you establish that foundation, your responsibilities expand: analyzing AI-generated performance reports to refine subsequent instruction, communicating fluency progress and decoding milestones to families, and contributing to the evolution of Alpha's K-2 reading strategy in tandem with adaptive technology.

As Alpha opens additional campuses, the systems you develop will serve as the blueprint for reading instruction across the organization.

Prior to an offer, you will be asked to submit a brief video sharing an engaging story for young children, and you will participate in a full-day campus visit working directly with K-2 students. Low energy with children will disqualify you, regardless of credential strength. That is intentional.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Creating and facilitating small-group K-2 reading workshops rooted in structured-literacy principles (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LETRS, IMSE, or comparable approaches), informed by live student performance data
  • Facilitating daily motivation sessions designed to ensure all students meet their weekly adaptive-app benchmarks, applying Alpha's motivational framework (school currency, leaderboards, age-appropriate gamification)
  • Conducting and evaluating running records, fluency assessments, and decoding measures to monitor progress and inform next-session planning
  • Analyzing AI-generated student performance reports from Alpha's adaptive learning platforms to differentiate instruction dynamically, not only during planning phases
  • Serving as the approachable, energetic adult presence your K-2 students anticipate seeing each day
What You Won’t Be Doing
  • Implementing a commercial reading curriculum, scripted lesson sequence, or district pacing guide; you create lessons directly from student data
  • Delivering whole-class lectures; all instruction occurs in small, targeted groups while students complete academic subjects through adaptive applications
  • Serving as a reading consultant, instructional coach for other educators, or district-level…
