DescriptionGeneral Function:
The Career and Life Development (CLD) Instructor is responsible for implementing, instructing, and coordinating the College's Career and Life Development curriculum for primarily on-ground students, with occasional online instructional responsibilities as assigned. The instructor delivers engaging, student-centered instruction in High-Performance Skills, Financial Literacy, Mobile Technology, Career Readiness, and related topics while supporting student success, persistence, and professional growth.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Instruction and Curriculum
- Teach each three-week session of Career and Life Development:
High-Performance Skills, Financial Literacy, and Mobile Technology. - Develop, implement, and continuously monitor curriculum, syllabi, lesson plans, and instructional materials in collaboration with the CLD Department Head.
- Present enthusiastic, well-prepared, organized instruction and facilitate engaging classroom activities consistent with the course syllabus.
- Create and maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that supports student success in both on-ground and occasional online settings.
- Utilize instructional strategies that support adult learners with diverse educational backgrounds and learning needs.
- Maintain current knowledge of instructional best practices, educational technology, and adult learning principles.
Student Success and Engagement
- Foster student engagement, motivation, accountability, and professional growth throughout the CLD course.
- Provide timely, constructive, and encouraging feedback that supports student learning and academic success.
- Identify barriers to student success and collaborate with appropriate college departments to connect students with available resources.
- Model professionalism, effective communication, lifelong learning, and ethical behavior expected in today's workforce.
- Support departmental student retention, satisfaction, and engagement initiatives.
Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with faculty and institutional partners to integrate information, digital, and AI literacy, critical thinking, and career readiness competencies throughout the teaching and learning experience.
- Implement and model the College Mission and CARES philosophy while promoting professional and ethical standards.
- Maintain respectful and professional relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
- Participate in curriculum review and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality of student and institutional information.
- Remain familiar with accrediting standards, institutional policies, and compliance requirements applicable to the CLD program.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Head, Campus Director, or College administration.
Technology and Instructional Tools
- Demonstrate proficiency with Student Information Systems, Canvas, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and other instructional technologies utilized by the College.
- Model ethical, responsible, and effective use of technology, digital resources, and artificial intelligence in support of teaching and learning.
- Maintain course materials and instructional resources within the College's learning management system.
