Part-Time After-School Program Assistant Job Description

Job Title: Part-Time After-School Program Assistant

Organization: John 3:16 Mission – Family & Youth Center

Position Summary:
The After-School Program Assistant helps provide academic support, recreational activities, and student supervision for children and youth at the John 3:16 Mission Family & Youth Center. This role is essential in creating a safe, Christ-centered environment where students can grow academically, socially, and spiritually.

Key Responsibilities

Student Engagement & Supervision

  • Supervise children and youth during program hours, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Help students stay focused during homework, activities, and group time.
  • Provide homework help and tutoring in core subjects such as math and reading.
  • Assist with enrichment activities including arts, crafts, educational games, and other hands-on learning opportunities.

Activity Implementation

  • Support staff in planning and carrying out after-school program activities.
  • Help organize recreational activities, sports, health-related experiences, and structured lessons.

Behavior Management & Role Modeling

  • Act as a positive role model and mentor for students by modeling Christlike behavior.
  • Assistin implementing discipline policies that promote respect, responsibility, and cooperation.

Communication & Record Keeping

  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Helpmaintainaccuraterecords of student attendance, participation, and development.

Program Support

  • Assist with student recruitment, enrollment, and program promotion.
  • Helpmaintaina clean, safe, and welcoming program environment.
  • Support special events such as Easter Picnic, Trunk or Treat, Thanksgiving Distribution, CLC Classes, and Family Nights.

Professional Development

  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.

Schedule: Part-time, Monday–Friday, 1:30 pm–5:30 pm. Additional hoursrequiredforspecial events.
