The Design & Consulting Team serves a diverse set of markets including food and beverage, consumer products, aviation and aerospace, civil infrastructure, healthcare, and Federal Government projects.

As a team member at Haskell, you’ll have the opportunity to work on impactful projects that will challenge your creativity, innovation, and expand your skill set. In this role as a design professional, you will be responsible for the production of innovative, appropriate, cost-effective designs, drawings, and specifications in their discipline for assigned projects. You will emerge as an independent resource and begin to coordinate work with other disciplines.

You will work to fulfill experience requirements for eligibility to take the professional license exam.

Responsibilities
  • Application of knowledge of structural engineering applications.
  • Participates in project strategy meetings within discipline, develops design concepts, and produces pricing and proposal presentation documents.
  • Design analysis, performs analyses or calculations as assigned, and assists in developing reports under the direction of a Licensed Professional.
  • Coordinates and checks work carefully to minimize deficiencies, errors, and omissions.
  • Ability to read and understand local/state/federal highway design manuals, special provisions, specifications, and standards.
  • Maintains orderly work files and prepares clear, well-written memos/correspondence;, and, when assigned, prepares presentation materials.
  • Detailing: reads and understands design documents.
  • Construction documents: produces well-organized, finished design documents of good appearance, accuracy, clarity, and correctness from layouts, sketches, or written instructions.
  • Applies discipline design and detailing fundamentals under supervision of a Licensed Professional and assists in development of construction plans, right-of-way plans, cost estimates, bid documents, and quantity takeoffs as directed.
  • Assists Licensed Professional with production/assembly/plotting of drawing packages and writing specifications; checks final drawings and submittal data for conformance with contract documents.
  • Construction support: assists in project site visits by taking notes, photographs, and sketches; checks shop drawings and submittal data for conformance with contract documents; assists Licensed Professional in construction observation to monitor design intent and conformity.
  • Prepares field reports and supports project management by coordinating with interns, designers, and technicians.
  • Project efficiency: creates work plans, plans, executes, and monitors assignments; communicates status with supervisor to establish priorities; meets project schedules to align with target deliverables.
  • Professional development: contributes to becoming registered as a PE; participates in local professional organizations; seeks continuing education opportunities; attends training to improve base knowledge.
  • Leadership: champions compliance to corporate standards and best practices.
Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in civil engineering or a related degree in structural engineering. Enrollment in or desire to pursue a Master’s degree in structural engineering would reflect positively.
