Overview
Brief Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Structural BIM Technician to join our structural engineering team. In this role, you will play a vital part in transforming engineering concepts into high-quality 3D models and construction documents. You will work closely with Structural Engineers to model steel, concrete, and timber systems for a variety of building types. This is an entry-level position perfect for a recent graduate or a junior technician looking to master Revit Structure and grow within a professional engineering firm.
Responsibilities- 3D Structural Modeling:
Utilize Autodesk Revit to develop accurate 3D models of structural systems, including foundations, framing, and reinforcement. - Drawing Production:
Generate 2D construction documents, including floor plans, sections, and detailed structural drawings from the 3D model. - System Coordination:
Assist in the clash detection process, ensuring that structural elements do not interfere with architectural or MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) systems. - Standard Maintenance:
Adhere to company and project-specific BIM standards to ensure consistency across all sets of construction drawings. - Project
Collaboration:
Work directly under the guidance of a BIM Manager or Structural Engineer to incorporate redlines and design changes throughout the project lifecycle. - Document Management:
Help organize and maintain project files, Revit families, and digital archives.
- Technical Requirements &
Skills:
Software Foundations:
Basic proficiency in Autodesk Revit is required (classroom experience or internship experience is acceptable). Familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus. - Spatial Visualization: A strong ability to visualize 3D objects from 2D drawings and a solid understanding of basic geometric principles.
- Structural Curiosity: A foundational interest in how buildings are constructed (e.g., how a steel beam connects to a column or how a foundation supports a wall).
- Detail Oriented:
High level of accuracy in drafting and a measure twice, cut once mindset toward your work. - Communication:
Ability to ask clarifying questions and work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Education:
Associate Degree in CAD/BIM Design, Engineering Technology, or a related field. Vocational training or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline will also be considered. - Experience:
0–2 years of experience. We are willing to train a candidate who shows strong Revit aptitude and a desire to learn structural drafting.
