Job Description
Supports Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Managers by implementing, maintaining, and evaluating environmental, health, and safety programs across AAON facilities. Conducts inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, documents findings, and supports corrective actions to ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Contributes to environmental reporting, training coordination, and recordkeeping while promoting a strong corporate safety culture through collaboration, communication, and continuous improvement.
PrimaryDuties
- Supports Environmental, Health, and Safety Managers by writing, revising, and maintaining policies, programs, and written procedures related to health, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Conducts facility inspections, audits, and observations to identify potential safety and environmental hazards; documents findings and tracks corrective actions.
- Supports environmental compliance activities, including contributing to reports, maintaining required records, and assisting with regulatory programs and permit conditions.
- Coordinates with facility Environmental, Health, and Safety teams to evaluate program effectiveness and track compliance activities.
- Prepares reports and supporting documentation for submission to internal stakeholders or regulatory agencies.
- Develops tools, resources, and documentation used for safety and environmental compliance audits.
- Coordinates and facilitates Environmental, Health, and Safety training and assists in the development of new training materials as needed.
- Promotes a strong safety culture through engagement, education, and collaboration with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Travels up to 25% overnight to support audits, data collection, training, and other Environmental, Health, and Safety activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related field; 3+ years of experience in environmental, health, and safety compliance, auditing, or program administration, or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background. Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities- Working knowledge of environmental regulations and occupational safety standards.
- Ability to interpret technical documents and reference federal regulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with standard office productivity software.
- Ability to develop clear policies, reports, and training materials.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to recommend practical solutions.
- Ability to diplomatically communicate constructive feedback.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to time‑sensitive issues.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to present information to small‑to‑medium‑sized groups.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while performing administrative tasks.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop during inspections and audits.
- Ability to walk up to three miles throughout manufacturing and warehouse facilities.
- Ability to climb ladders or stairs as required.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required.
- Ability to maintain focus and attention to detail in active industrial environments.
- Work performed primarily on‑site at manufacturing and warehouse facilities.
- Regular exposure to industrial conditions, including noise, moving mechanical parts, elevated locations, and environmental conditions typical of manufacturing operations.
- Use of personal protective equipment as required.
- Compliance with all safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
