The Advanced Facilities Group (AFG) at JE Dunn specializes in Mission Critical, Advanced Industries, and Industrial & Manufacturing projects. This high-performing team is focused on groundbreaking work with clients in the Data Center, Industrial & Manufacturing, and Semiconductor sectors. Role OverviewThe Lead Safety Specialist will take charge of coordinating and executing the field safety program for both routine and complex construction projects. Key responsibilities include conducting safety inspections, identifying and addressing hazardous conditions, and performing trend analyses. All activities will align with the strategy, vision, and values of JE Dunn.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the implementation of the field safety program across various construction projects.
- Conduct regular inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with safety laws and company policies.
- Perform safety audits on assigned projects by identifying, documenting, and recommending solutions for hazardous conditions.
- Develop and deliver project-specific safety orientations and ensure compliance with drug and alcohol policies.
- Oversee the safety programs of prime contractors and subcontractors.
- Participate in project meetings to address safety-related topics and concerns.
- Support field leadership in executing the safety program, including meetings, safety committees, and activities.
- Assist in investigating project-related accidents, collaborating with supervisors to determine root causes and suggesting process improvements.
- Coordinate with injured workers and healthcare providers to ensure timely treatment and a smooth return to work.
- Manage incentives and recognition programs related to safety on-site.
As a Lead Safety Specialist, you will also:
- Utilize advanced safety knowledge to identify complex safety hazards and develop effective abatement strategies.
- Apply an in-depth understanding of relevant laws and work processes to tailor safety recommendations for specific projects.
- Enhance communication within meetings, utilizing your expertise and experience.
- Conduct trend analyses using internal safety management tools to identify recurring safety issues and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Provide training and guidance on safety topics for both new and existing team members.
- Assist safety leadership during insurance audits and manage multiple complex projects.
- Develop and implement training programs to meet the safety objectives.
- Continuously evaluate training needs and enhance existing programs to promote a strong safety culture.
- Facilitate in-person and virtual training sessions, ensuring retention of training records.
- A Bachelor's degree in a safety and health-related field is preferred, but equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
- 5+ years of experience in construction safety is required.
- A valid and unrestricted driver's license is required.
