Senior Electrical Engineer

Overview

Merrick & Company is seeking a full time Senior Electrical Engineer for our Energy, Manufacturing & Bioprocessing department. The position is available in Greenwood Village, CO;
Richmond, VA;
Ellicott City, MD;
Chattanooga, TN; or Tulsa, OK. This business unit supports several market sectors including industrial food & beverage, refining, power, and advanced biofuels. The role offers a hybrid work schedule and relocation will be considered. Typical annual pay range is $ – $, depending on knowledge, skills, and experience.

• May serve as project lead on a major project and/or several projects of moderate scope with complex features.
• Develop electrical design documents and drawings.
• Analyze and approve the work of others and monitor the work performed by the team.
• Conceptual and detailed design of low‑voltage power distribution, lighting, grounding, motor control systems, PLC/PAC, HMI’s process equipment and instrumentation.
• Interact with clients, customers, officials, contractors and others.
• Lead project meetings and make presentations.
• Perform typical electrical calculations including voltage drop, short circuit, coordination studies, arc flash, relay settings, conduit fill, lighting, and grounding.
• Develop specifications and datasheets for electrical equipment including transformers, switch gear, MCCs.
• Travel to client project sites to support field walk‑downs and as‑built efforts.
• Monitor allocated resources to ensure that the work performed is within project estimates.
• Work with Design/Engineering Managers to ensure that the project schedule will be met, and complete documents are provided for each project.

• Minimum of twelve (12) years of electrical engineering experience, preferably in power, energy, oil and gas or other industrial process industries.
• Experience developing one‑line drawings, control schematics, wiring diagrams, electrical equipment specifications, power plans, conduit plans, and cable schedules.
• Working knowledge of technical codes and standards: NEC, IEEE, NFPA, IEC, etc.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office Excel & Word.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, REVIT or other design software.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an A.B.E.T. accredited college.
• PE License required.
• Client projects for this position require U.S. citizenship.
