Job SummaryA highly skilled and innovative Mechanical Engineer to perform design, development, analysis, prototyping, manufacturing, and validating precision components and mechanisms as well as integrating mechanical assemblies in a program team environment. Program support and technical leadership include requirements definition, trade studies, design sensitivity, optimization studies, assembly, integration and testing.
Able to drive projects from concept through manufacturing and final operational test. Candidate must have proven expertise in CAD modeling, FEA simulation for thermal/structural, design for manufacturing and ensuring compliance with stringent AS9100 design standards. The candidate must be able to work independently or within a multi‑disciplined team environment.
Responsibilities- Lead a multi‑disciplinary Engineering Team through system requirements, design, analysis, test, hardware build, delivery and launch.
- Define and establish the technical approach to meet assigned objectives, including mechanical design (precision mechanisms, mechanical systems, GD&T ASME Y14.5, tolerance analysis, electro‑mechanical design, motion systems), simulation & analysis (FEA, thermal‑structural analysis, modal analysis), prototyping & manufacturing (rapid prototyping, machining, molding, assembly, testing within aggressive timelines), and software (Siemens NX or other high‑end integrated CAD/CAM package).
- Develop and perform testing to demonstrate proof‑of‑concept and/or qualification of new designs.
- Prepare reports, formal documentation and presentation materials summarizing analysis results and present results to external and internal groups, including leadership and customers.
- Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience.
- Option:
Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience. Experience in the design and sustainment of complex Mechanical Systems, preferably in a Commercial environment. () - Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoW Top Secret security clearance. ()
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Familiarity with maintenance and sustainment practices for complex systems. ()
- Proficiency in design and 3D modeling of solids, surfaces, and assemblies (primary CAD tool will be Siemens NX).
- Drafted detailed drawings with GD&T, collaborating with vendors for custom fabrication.
- Proficiency in tolerance stack‑up analysis for mechanical designs.
- Performed advanced FEA on precision components, enhancing structural integrity and reducing failure rates.
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoW Top Secret security clearance and must be a U.S. Citizen.
