This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career.
The Impact You’ll Make in this Role- Leading assigned and self-directed improvements for Safety, Quality, Service and Cost related to assigned products and processes.
- Implementing high impact projects that relate to our customer and site’s needs.
- Support of a high impact technical chemical operation.
- Willingness to be provide support, as needed, during off-shift and weekend hours.
- Initiates and completes technical activities leading to new or improved products and processes which have significant impact potential.
- Suggest changes and future direction of assigned products and processes.
- Major stakeholder in assigned product and process project planning.
- Establish a network of support for assigned products and processes (lab, quality, manufacturing operations, etc.) to facilitate completion of assignments.
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in an Engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start)
- One (1) year of engineering experience in a chemical operations environment in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Three (3) years of engineering experience in a chemical operations environment.
- Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited university.
- Excellent mechanical, chemical and/or electrical aptitude and problem‑solving skills; practical and hands‑on, with analytical comprehension and data driven decision making.
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma, Design of Experiments (DOE), Statistical Analysis, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Control Plans.
- Ability to work both independently and in cross‑functional teams from multiple locations and divisions.
- Ability to navigate through ambiguity and change.
- Ability to communicate and function effectively with production through senior leadership teams.
- Operate with a One Winning Team mindset.
- Effectively implement continuous improvement efforts with a sense of urgency.
- Works on‑site at the 3M Quapaw, Oklahoma facility.
- May require travel of up to 10% domestic.
- Relocation may be authorized.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to U.S. Export Control Laws. 3M must assess candidates’ U.S. person status and may not share export‑controlled technology with non‑U.S. persons.
