We have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Civil Engineering that provides discipline leadership, collaboration, and technical oversight for Civil Engineering services across the firm. This role ensures technical excellence, operational alignment, resource efficiency, and risk management while supporting integrated project delivery across architecture, engineering, surveying, and construction administration teams.
The Director supports the client's mission to Build Strong Teams, Do Excellent Work, and Make Good Money by developing civil engineering staff, strengthening technical standards, and ensuring projects are delivered with a consistent focus on Quality, Schedule, and Budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for the Civil Engineering discipline across the firm

• Mentor and develop civil engineering staff

• Support business development efforts including proposals and client meetings

• Lead Civil Engineering project managers, engineers, and designers

• Monitor staffing levels, workload distribution, and utilization

• Champion QA/QC processes and technical standards

• Collaborate closely with surveying, geotechnical, and other consultants

• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance

Required:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) license & NCEES registration is required
• 15 plus years of civil engineering site development experience
• 5 plus years of leadership/management experience
• Leadership in multidisciplinary design environment
• Excellent leadership, communication, & interpersonal skills

Three key areas:
1. Has an Eye for Business Development
2. Strong Management/Leadership skills to help mentor the team
3. National Level Technical Experience (someone who has worked with large firms that have reach across the country. They have some large clients like Wal Mart and Siemens. Looking for someone with experience working with that level of client)
