Systems Engineer, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineer, Aerospace / Aviation / Avionics
US Citizenship Required.
In this role, you will lead and develop electrical power systems for the integration of electrical/electronic equipment on interceptor drone platforms. In addition, program tasking can include development of electrical load analysis, design documentation, vendor coordination, and supporting testing/integration of these systems. The Engineer will be responsible for research, systems integration, preparation of engineering drawings, and coordination of design activities with Systems Engineering, Manufacturing, and Production to ensure that designs meet requirements at minimum cost while enabling rapid initial and continual production line improvements.
The Candidate must be able to work independently or within a multi-disciplined team environment and support fast-paced production operations. The candidate will also be expected to assist with developing the best technical approach to meet the product capabilities and CONOPS.
Skills/
Experience:
Responsible for leading Electrical Engineering design through system requirements, design, analysis, test, hardware build, liaison and delivery for CUAS interceptor drone systems.
Defines and establishes the technical approach to meet assigned objectives for both new development and production line enhancement initiatives.
Ensure programs are accomplished on schedule and within budget while complying with process, procedures and program requirements.
Support production line operations by rapidly implementing design improvements and resolving electrical system issues to maintain production flow.
Participate and integrate lessons learned from field operations and testing into production line improvements with minimal disruption to manufacturing schedules.
Prepares reports, formal documentation and presentation materials summarizing analysis results and present results to both external and internal groups, including leadership and customers.
Provide guidance, coaching, and training to other junior level employees and production support personnel.
Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to ensure designs are optimized for producibility and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills:
Knowledge and skills using ECAD tools, preferably Siemens Capital and Xpedition Designer Vx.
Progressive understanding of power systems, communications systems, flight control systems, and autonomous mission systems for unmanned platforms.
Experience with rapid prototyping and production support environments, including design for manufacturability principles.
Capable of managing and working in an environment that is fast paced, demanding, with a focus on problem resolution, process improvement, and production line support.
Ability to work in manufacturing environments and support hands-on troubleshooting and testing activities.
Must be a U.S Citizen.
DesiredSkills:
Design related experience in defense aerospace industry, particularly with unmanned aerial systems or counter-UAS technologies.
Outstanding communication (both verbally and written), collaboration, time management, presentation, and organizational skills.
Experience developing secondary power distribution systems, developing drone communications and datalink systems, and familiarity with power systems standards like MIL-STD-704 or MIL-STD-1275.
Experience in electrical system design using Siemens Capital. Willing to perform or participate in administrative duties for same tool.
Familiarity with battery management systems, electric propulsion systems, and high-power density electrical architectures for small unmanned platforms.
Experience with agile development methodologies and concurrent engineering practices that support rapid iteration and production implementation.
Results-oriented, empowering leader with direct experience excelling in a matrixed environment and production support roles.
Embedded system design experience including microcontroller integration experience to include sensor and peripheral interface design.
Degree Requirement:
Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience in electrical design for unmanned systems, aerospace, or defense applications. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
