Job Details

Purpose:

The Survey Project Manager is responsible for planning and directing survey-related tasks and resources to ensure successful project completion. This role requires strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills to manage field and office personnel, maintain quality standards, and meet project deadlines.

Work Schedule:

Flex-schedule:
Nominal 9 hours Monday through Thursday; 4 hours on Friday.

Overtime may be required on short notice to meet project deadlines.

Responsibilities:

Communications Consult with client representatives to coordinate project activities within the company’s scope of services.

Communicate effectively with supervisors, peers, subordinates, and external stakeholders via phone, email, written correspondence, and in-person meetings.

Project Management Assist Senior Project Managers in developing project scope, goals, deliverables, schedules, proposals, and cost estimates.

Prepare progress reports and job plans; assign and manage field/office work orders.

Reconnaissance Conduct preliminary site visits to support route studies, project scoping, and estimating.

Personnel Management Supervise field and office staff to ensure compliance with company safety and operational policies.

Task Management Assign tasks, monitor progress, and adjust resources and schedules to meet project goals and budget constraints.

Coordination Schedule and assign survey crews weekly in collaboration with the COO and project coordinator.

Coordinate with the equipment manager to maintain inventory and equipment readiness.

Work with senior project managers to schedule technical and design tasks.

Audits Conduct bi-monthly field audits to verify performance and compliance with operational and HSE policies.

Report non-compliance and disciplinary actions to senior management and HR.Guidance & Mentorship Support HSE training initiatives and mentor field personnel in survey procedures and equipment use.

Assist in training and directing project resources in survey and drafting tasks.

QA/QC & Evaluation Perform formal and informal performance evaluations.

Develop and implement survey procedures.

Conduct QA/QC inspections to ensure work meets project specifications.

Assist in verifying survey data, mapping, and computations.

Essential

Qualifications:

Licensed Professional Land Surveyor Bachelor’s Degree – Bachelor of Science Degree in Geomatics preferred

Strong familiarity with project management methods and strategies

Experience with practical survey and pipeline construction methods, including survey control, boundary recovery, topographic and hazard survey, construction staking, field design, and as-built methodologies

Practical knowledge of State Land Survey Requirements and Client standards; and Pipeline Industry Standards Competent and proficient understanding of land surveying, pipeline mapping, pipeline construction, and as-built integrity compliance practices

Solid working knowledge of current survey equipment and software technologies, including but not limited to Trimble and AutoCADDemonstrated experience in personnel and task management

Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities

Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently

Flexible during times of change

Ability to read communication styles of team members and contractors from diverse disciplines

Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments

Ability to defuse tension among project teams, should it arise

Strong written and oral communication skills

Strong interpersonal skills

Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products

Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies

Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
