Job Description & How to Apply Below
Manufacturing Engineer
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to optimize production processes for oil and gas equipment and fabricated components. The role focuses on improving manufacturability, ensuring compliance with ASME and industry standards, and supporting design-to-production workflows using CADD and fabrication best practices. The ideal candidate will drive continuous improvement, cost reduction, and ensure safe, quality-focused manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, document, and optimize manufacturing processes for oil and gas and heavy fabrication components to improve efficiency, quality, and throughput.
- Collaborate with design engineers to review drawings and models using CADD to ensure manufacturability and adherence to ASME codes and company standards.
- Create and maintain work instructions, process flows, tooling specifications, and control plans for production lines and fabrication shops.
- Lead process validation, first-piece approvals, and root-cause analysis for production issues; implement corrective actions and preventive measures.
- Support equipment selection, layout, and installation; define fixturing, tooling, and gauging requirements to meet production and quality targets.
- Partner with quality, procurement, and shop floor teams to ensure materials, welding, and fabrication practices meet ASME and project specifications.
- Apply lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies (Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma) to reduce waste, shorten cycle times, and lower production costs.
- Train production staff and contractors on processes, safety practices, and inspection criteria to ensure consistent execution and compliance.
- Manage production trials, pilot runs, and scale-up activities for new products and engineered assemblies.
- Prepare engineering change requests, technical reports, and documentation required for regulatory compliance and customer audits.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in oil and gas equipment, pressure-containing components, or heavy fabrication environments.
- Proficiency with CADD software (AutoCAD, Solid Works, or equivalent) for interpreting and reviewing fabrication drawings and models.
- Strong knowledge of ASME codes and standards (e.g., ASME Section VIII, B31.3) and experience applying them to design and fabrication processes.
- Hands-on experience with welding, machining, forming, and assembly processes used in heavy fabrication shops.
- Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement tools.
- Solid understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, inspection methods, and quality control practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project coordination skills; ability to work cross-functionally and mentor production personnel.
- Willingness to work in a shop-floor environment and participate in field support or site commissioning as required.
