We are seeking a motivated and innovative Product Development Engineer to lead the design, development, and launch of new products while enhancing existing product lines. This individual will play a key role in bringing concepts from initial design through production, ensuring products meet performance, quality, cost, and manufacturability objectives.
The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative manufacturing environment and enjoys working cross-functionally with engineering, operations, supply chain, quality, and customers to deliver high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and improve products, components, and assemblies based on customer requirements and business objectives.
- Manage product development projects from concept and prototyping through validation, production release, and post-launch support.
- Create and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, bills of material (BOMs), and other technical documentation.
- Partner with manufacturing and operations teams to optimize designs for manufacturability, cost, and quality.
- Coordinate prototype builds, testing activities, design verification, and product validation efforts.
- Analyze product performance, reliability, and field data to identify opportunities for product enhancements and corrective actions.
- Lead value engineering and cost reduction initiatives to improve product competitiveness.
- Collaborate with suppliers and purchasing teams on material selection, component sourcing, and technical requirements.
- Support engineering change management processes and oversee product lifecycle activities.
- Investigate and resolve manufacturing, quality, and field-related product issues.
- Ensure products comply with applicable industry standards, customer specifications, and safety requirements.
- Provide technical leadership and communicate project status to internal stakeholders and leadership teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 3+ years of product development, design engineering, or new product introduction experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with CAD platforms such as Solid Works, Creo, AutoCAD, or similar design software.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, material selection, and product testing methodologies.
- Experience working within cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.
- Knowledge of APQP, DFMEA, PFMEA, or other structured product development methodologies.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience utilizing ERP/MRP systems and engineering change processes.
- Understanding of industry regulations, compliance requirements, and customer-driven specifications.
