Manufacturing Engineer – Automation & Controls Focus

Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite

Salary: $95,000–$120,000 + Performance Bonus + Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with a strong background in industrial automation and manufacturing controls to support and improve automated production processes within a high-performance electronics manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys troubleshooting manufacturing equipment, optimizing automated processes, improving equipment reliability, and partnering with operations to increase productivity and quality. The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives while supporting new manufacturing technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Support and improve automated manufacturing equipment and production processes.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment, PLC-controlled systems, and automation-related issues.
  • Identify opportunities to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), productivity, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions for equipment and manufacturing process failures.
  • Work with maintenance and operations teams to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Support new equipment installations, commissioning, and process validation.
  • Develop and improve manufacturing work instructions, process documentation, and standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) related to manufacturing equipment and production processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to introduce new manufacturing technologies and automation improvements.
  • Monitor manufacturing KPIs and identify opportunities for process optimization.
  • Ensure manufacturing equipment complies with quality and safety standards.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, or related engineering discipline.
  • 5 years of Manufacturing Engineering or Automation Engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience programming or troubleshooting PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, or Beckhoff.
  • Experience troubleshooting automated production systems.
  • Understanding of industrial automation concepts including sensors, actuators, HMIs, drives, and control systems.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • HMI development or troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience supporting robotics or automated assembly equipment.
  • Knowledge of industrial networking (Ether Net/IP, Profinet, Modbus).
  • Servo motion control experience.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, electronics, or regulated manufacturing environments.
