Position Summary

The AFNDIO is seeking a Nondestructive Inspection (NDI) Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a technology transition analyst role. The selected candidate will serve as an SME in aerospace systems NDI and aircraft maintenance. This position will support the AF NDI Office by performing a variety of NDI-related functions, providing NDI analysis, and applying basic project management knowledge as requested.

Location: Air Force Nondestructive Inspection Office (AFNDIO) at Tinker AFB, OK (Telework is not available for this position).

Minimum Qualifications P2 – Technology Transition Analyst
  • Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of three (3) years of experience OR seven (7) years of experience in the NDI field having previously held Level 2 or Level 3 certification(s) IAW NAS 410, ASNT, SNT‑TC‑1A (or equivalent)
  • Experience leading projects and programs
  • Knowledge of NDI lab requirements, programs, and equipment management practices
  • Proficient in performing NDI process controls and managing the process control program
  • Proficient with fluorescent penetrant (methods c and d) and eddy current (surface scan and bolt holes rotary scan) inspection methods and documenting detailed inspection results
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
  • Technical writing skills
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and able to complete required tasks with minimal assistance
  • Proficient with Adobe Acrobat
  • Self‑motivated, independent working with impeccable judgement
  • U.S. citizen (required for research contracts with the U.S. federal government)
  • Ability to obtain secret clearance within one year of hire
  • Willing to travel (up to eight (8) weeks a year) as needed
P3 – Senior Technology Transition Analyst
  • All P2 Minimum Qualifications As Well As
  • Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of six years of experience OR a master’s degree plus a minimum of five years of experience OR 10 years of experience in the field of NDI having previously held Level 2 or Level 3 certification(s) IAW NAS 410, ASNT, SNT‑TC‑1A (or equivalent)
  • 3+ years’ experience managing an AF field NDI laboratory (served as NCOIC, Section Chief, Lab Supervisor, etc.)
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skillset
  • Ability to draft drawings from CAD and 3D models
Preferred Qualifications P2
  • 3+ years’ experience working in or closely with the Air Force NDI Office (AFNDIO)
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Project management training or certifications and MS Project experience
  • Familiarity with military materials, processes, and standards
  • Knowledge of and experience with additive manufacturing, CAD, and 3D modeling
  • Experience supporting, performing, and/or managing NDI lab processes and methods
  • Ability to research, analyze, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures
  • Demonstrated self‑starter with vision to see new ways of doing business (out of the box thinking)
  • Experience interacting with civilian and government personnel, contractors, and interpreting and applying guidelines and requirements
  • Prior military service or DoD civilian experience, particularly with the U.S. Air Force
P3
  • All P2 Preferred Qualifications Plus
  • Moderate experience in manipulating 3D Scanner data (point cloud) using CAD/Solid Works
  • Documented experience hours that meet or exceed NAS 410 Level 2 formal training and experience requirements in the five traditional methods (penetrant, magnetic particle, eddy current, ultrasonic, and radiography)
