Utility EIT​/Coordinator

Role Summary

As a Utility EIT/Coordinator you will support the civil engineering team with utility coordination, research, investigation, conflict resolution, design assistance, field coordination and overall project support.

• Utility Coordination – assist in coordination between the project team and utility owners within the project vicinity to identify, understand, confirm, and mitigate utility risk.
• Utility Research – perform utility records research, obtain existing mapping and plans, and prepare utility contact lists.
• Utility Investigation – coordinate and/or assist with Subsurface Utility Engineering investigations performed by HDR and/or subconsultants.
• Utility Conflict Resolution – identify utility conflicts, communicate findings, and assist in resolution including mitigation or relocation.
• Utility Design – assist project engineers with the design of wet and dry utilities required to accommodate civil improvements.
• Utility Plan Production – assist with preparation of utility‑related client deliverables such as plans, specifications, and exhibits.
• Utility Field Coordination – work with utility owners and construction management teams during the installation of utility relocations.
• Overall Project Team Coordination – collaborate with the civil project team, engineers, and managers to meet client needs.
• Overall Quality – apply QA/QC guidelines, participate in review of plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
• Candidate without an EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator role and expected to obtain an EIT for career progression.
• Two years of related experience in the Transportation/Roadway/Utility industry.
• Proficiency with Micro Station and/or AutoCAD and highway/road engineering software such as Bentley Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk Civil 3D.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to read and understand civil transportation engineering design plans.
• Ability to read and understand utility installation and adjustment plans.
• Strong communication, organization, scheduling, and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience interfacing with utility providers.
• Field experience in construction oversight or surveying capacity.
• Basic understanding of real estate principles and easements.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
