American Power Innovations is seeking a BIM/CAD/VDC Technician (Drafter) to support the design and development of power distribution centers (PDCs) and modular electrical systems. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and collaborating with cross‑functional engineering teams.
What You’ll Do- Create and maintain detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for modular PDC systems
- Support electrical, mechanical, and structural engineering teams with BIM/CAD modeling
- Assist in the development of power distribution equipment layouts, assemblies, and components
- Maintain organized and accurate project documentation and drawing revisions
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and project teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and aligned with project requirements
- Update models and drawings based on engineering changes and production feedback
- Experience with Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD (required)
- 2+ years of drafting/modeling experience in manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments preferred
- Familiarity with modular construction, electrical systems, or PDCs is a plus
- Strong understanding of BIM/CAD standards and best practices
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a production‑driven environment
- Problem‑solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
- Work on innovative power distribution and modular solutions
