Traffic Analysis Engineer

Garver is seeking a highly‑motivated Traffic Analysis Engineer to join our growing traffic and transportation planning team. The ideal candidate will have 5‑10 years of related experience, a sharp technical background, and a passion for the profession.
The position will offer an opportunity to play a key role in analyzing and designing exciting projects for our DOT and municipal clients across our client footprint. Applicants must have excellent communication skills and be committed to becoming a key member of our highly productive design team. This role is supervised by a Senior Project Manager and offers outstanding growth opportunities and career advancement to the right individual.
Responsibilities- Perform traffic and safety studies
- Perform traffic simulation and level of service analysis
- Develop access management plans and lane configurations for new or modified alignments
- Develop traffic signal timing plans
- Prepare summary documentation and reports
- Coordinate with multi‑disciplinary teams and communicate concepts to clients
- Assist with project management to identify project scopes, fees, and monitor project progress
- Maintain a client‑focused service attitude by tracking budgets and keeping projects on schedule
- Prepare project proposals and give interviews for project pursuits
- Perform direct client marketing and develop relationships with existing clients within our service area
- Mentor less experienced staff
- Bachelor’s degree in an ABET‑accredited engineering program
- 4‑8 years of experience with traffic‑specific projects
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Working knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual and Trip Generation Manual
- Knowledge in capacity analysis, traffic projections, and safety analysis (including HSM)
- Knowledge of traffic simulation programs (VISSIM, CORSIM, etc.), Synchro, and HCS
- Experience analyzing intersections, interchanges, and roundabouts
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Master’s degree in civil engineering
- Experience in transportation planning and travel demand modeling (TransCAD)
- Experience using ArcGIS for data analysis, including review of large crash datasets for spatial trends and clusters
- Experience with pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects and studies
- Experience marketing and managing local government projects
- Experience working with MODOT and municipalities in Missouri
- Certification as a PTOE and/or RSP
