Design Engineering Manager
XRG Technologies is seeking a Design Engineering Manager to join our growing team and play a key role in shaping the future of our Mechanical and Structural Design organization. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineering leader who is passionate about technical excellence, team development, and continuous improvement. In addition to overseeing mechanical and structural design activities, the ideal candidate will help drive process improvements, develop engineering standards, mentor personnel, and contribute to the growth of XRG's design capabilities.
Our Mechanical Design group is looking for a leader who can expand and strengthen our structural engineering expertise while providing technical oversight for the design and analysis of steel structures, equipment, and fired heater systems. The successful candidate will have experience with mechanical and structural calculations, fabrication and general arrangement drawings, and industry standards such as API, AISC and ASCE
7. Familiarity with structural analysis software, including RISA-3D, and modern engineering design tools is highly desirable. This role combines hands-on technical involvement with leadership responsibilities, offering significant opportunities for professional and organizational growth.

Minimum
Required Experience:
- Lead and manage the Mechanical and Structural Design team, including engineers and drafters.
- Provide technical oversight for mechanical and structural design calculations.
- Review and approve engineering deliverables, fabrication drawings, and general arrangement drawings.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company design practices.
- Mentor and develop engineering and drafting personnel.
- Establish and improve design processes, tools, and standards.
- Coordinate design activities across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and project management teams.
- Support business growth by expanding structural engineering capabilities and technical offerings.
- Drive quality, efficiency, and innovation throughout the design organization.
Desired
Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Civil/Structural Engineering.
- 8+ years of structural design experience in a relevant field post-degree
- Licensed Professional Engineer
- Experience in the oil and gas industry
- Experience in fired heaters or refractory design
- Wind and seismic design of open and closed frame structures per AISC and ASCE 7
- Connection design
- Proficiency in RISA-3D or IDEA Stati Ca
- Programming skills in Excel/VBA
- Construction management experience
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D), Solidworks, and/or Tekla Structures
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis

Job Functions:
- Lead and develop the Mechanical and Structural Design team, providing technical direction, mentoring, and support for engineers and designers.
- Manage and oversee the design of complex oil and gas equipment, including fired heaters, boilers, auxiliary equipment, heavy steel structures, and their supporting systems.
- Review, approve, and guide mechanical and structural calculations, with a strong focus on structural steel design in accordance with AISC, ASCE 7, and applicable industry standards.
- Drive the expansion of XRG's structural engineering capabilities through the implementation of improved design tools, methodologies, standards, and best practices.
- Establish, maintain, and continually improve engineering design processes, quality standards, and internal calculation and drafting tools.
- Provide technical leadership in solving complex engineering challenges requiring innovative solutions, sound engineering judgment, and attention to detail.
- Coordinate design activities across sales, project execution, process engineering, procurement, fabrication partners, and customers to ensure successful project delivery.
