Underwriter (Contract-to-Hire) – On-Site in Tulsa or OKC

Compensation: $80,000 per year

A client is seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriter for an on-site, contract-to-hire position based in either Tulsa or Oklahoma City
. This role requires a strong command of mortgage guidelines, the ability to manage a pipeline of 50–60 loans per month
, and a commitment to staying current with all regulatory requirements.

Secondary employment is not permitted.

• Underwrite loan files from origination through closing with accuracy and efficiency.
• Review and verify credit, income, asset, collateral, and appraisal documentation.
• Ensure loan files meet all current federal, state, investor, and agency guidelines.
• Clearly communicate conditions, decisions, and findings to processors and loan officers.
• Collaborate with the loan team to resolve issues and maintain smooth workflow.
• Stay up-to-date with mortgage regulations, requirements, and industry changes.

• Minimum 3 years’ experience underwriting Conventional, FHA (
  DE
  ), and VA (
  SAR
  ) loans.
• Experience with HUD 184 and USDA loans is a plus.
• Strong proficiency with Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Loan Prospector (LP).
• Familiarity with GUS preferred.
• Experience with Encompass software preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
• Positive, team-oriented attitude.
• Underwriting certifications preferred but not required.
