Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced and driven Mortgage Manager to lead our mortgage lending team. This role is responsible for managing the full mortgage lifecycle, ensuring an exceptional member experience, maintaining regulatory compliance, and driving loan growth. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with deep industry knowledge and a passion for helping members achieve home ownership.
What You’ll Do- Lead and oversee daily operations of the mortgage lending team
- Coach, mentor, and develop loan officers and processors to achieve individual and team goals
- Review and approve mortgage loan applications within established authority limits
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and credit union regulations, including underwriting standards
- Monitor loan pipeline, productivity, and performance metrics to drive results
- Develop strategies to grow mortgage volume while maintaining strong credit quality
- Serve as a point of escalation for complex loans and member concerns
- Build and maintain relationships with real estate professionals, brokers, and community partners
- Analyze financial data, credit profiles, and risk factors to support sound lending decisions
- Partner with internal teams, including underwriting and training, to support staff development and process improvement
- Ensure adherence to NCUA regulations, policies, and ethical standards
- Prepare reports and provide insights on mortgage trends and team performance
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or related field (preferred)
- 5+ years of mortgage lending or banking experience
- 2+ years of leadership or management experience
- Strong knowledge of mortgage products (FHA, VA, conventional) and underwriting guidelines
- Solid understanding of lending regulations and compliance requirements
- Proven leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills
