Job Description: The Senior Equity Trader is primarily responsible for determining the method of trade, selecting the brokerage firm, and obtaining the best price and execution for equity trades. The role also requires conducting equity research coverage.
Responsibilities- Secure favorable terms for equity transactions by choosing the right brokers, timing, and trading systems.
- Analyze market trends, news, and economic events to determine the best‑performing products and pricing.
- Recommend and implement updates to internal policies, procedures, and programs to enhance trading efficiency and compliance.
- Ensure all trading practices align with regulatory requirements and complete monthly compliance reviews and reports.
- Oversee and execute lead equity, fixed income, and cash trades.
- Research settlement issues and perform portfolio analysis to recommend new investments or potential sales within the assigned sector.
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years (preferred 10+ years) of experience in security trading.
- NASD Series 7 and 65 licenses required.
- Advanced knowledge of equity securities, including mid and small cap stocks.
- Advanced knowledge of capital investment markets.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent PC skills, including word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications.
- Proficiency with computer‑based trading systems, especially Longview.
- Advanced developmental and analytical skills.
- Excellent people and process management skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work under extreme pressures with strict time frames.
- Willingness to engage daily with street equity research sales teams and effectively share relevant information with Portfolio Managers.
