Overview
We are a growing engineering and construction company looking for an experienced Director of Accounting & Finance to lead our financial operations. This role oversees all accounting and finance functions, ensures accurate financial reporting, and provides financial insight to support project profitability and company growth.
Responsibilities- Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, job costing, project accounting, fixed assets, and month‑end/year‑end close
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Manage construction/project accounting, including revenue recognition, cost tracking, WIP reports, and variance analysis
- Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
- Coordinate audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance; serve as the main contact for auditors, tax advisors, and banks
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial analysis to support executive and project decisions
- Oversee cash management, banking relationships, and treasury activities
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team as the company grows
- Work closely with operations, project management, procurement, and leadership to ensure financial accuracy and alignment
- Support system improvements, ERP enhancements, and special projects as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
- CPA or Master’s degree preferred
- 10+ years of accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Strong background in construction, EPC, energy, oil & gas, or industrial project accounting
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP; experience with construction revenue recognition (including percentage‑of‑completion)
- Experience using accounting or construction ERP systems (Quick Books, Sage, Viewpoint, Deltek, or similar)
- Proven ability to build and manage accounting processes in a growing company
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
