About The Role
The Mortgage Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end mortgage lending process, ensuring loans are processed efficiently, comply with regulatory requirements, and align with organizational standards. This role leads a team of Mortgage Lenders and Processors while managing complex loan scenarios and high-level member relationships.

Responsibilities- Oversee daily operations of the mortgage department and assigned teams.
- Lead, coach, and develop Mortgage Lenders and Processing staff to achieve performance goals.
- Review and approve mortgage loan applications within delegated authority.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and company lending regulations, including underwriting standards.
- Monitor loan pipeline, productivity, and key performance metrics.
- Resolve escalated client issues and manage complex loan situations.
- Build and maintain relationships with real estate agents, brokers, and strategic partners.
- Analyze financial data, credit reports, and risk factors to support sound lending decisions.
- Collaborate with Mortgage Sales, Underwriting, and Learning & Development teams to manage training programs and documentation.
- Ensure adherence to all NCUA laws, rules, regulations, and internal policies to mitigate risk and uphold ethical standards.
- Prepare and present performance reports and trend analysis to senior management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mortgage lending or banking.
- At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience.
- Strong knowledge of underwriting guidelines and loan products, including FHA, VA, and Conventional loans.
- Solid understanding of lending laws, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Must have recent mortgage lending experience, preferably within a Credit Union or banking environment.
- Strong leadership experience managing Mortgage Lenders and Processors.
- Hands‑on experience reviewing and approving mortgage loans.
- Strong knowledge of FHA, VA, and Conventional mortgage products.
- Experience with underwriting guidelines, regulatory compliance, and NCUA requirements.
- Comfortable managing complex loan scenarios while building relationships with members, real estate agents, and business partners.
