Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care using the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies. The RN monitors patient conditions and evaluates functional status to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize the nursing process to provide comprehensive care for assigned patients.
  • Perform thorough assessments and develop individualized plans of care within established unit and nursing guidelines.
  • Deliver nursing care with consideration for patients’ age, cultural background, and psychosocial needs.
  • Organize, prioritize, and perform nursing skills appropriate to the patient population.
  • Anticipate patient and unit needs to ensure continuity of care.
  • Demonstrate a strong bio-psychosocial knowledge base.
  • Communicate effectively and delegate appropriately to support patient care.
  • Exercise sound clinical judgment in response to changing patient and unit conditions.
  • Accurately document all phases of the nursing process in the appropriate medical record.
  • Record clinical data clearly, concisely, consistently, and accurately using correct medical terminology and abbreviations.
  • Identify patient problems and document progress toward outcomes in accordance with unit and nursing policies.
  • Facilitate patient education and discharge planning.
  • Initiate timely and appropriate referrals as needed.
  • Utilize available resources to plan and deliver patient education, considering age and cultural/psychosocial factors.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Support unit and hospital goals through performance improvement initiatives and educational activities.
  • Attend mandatory in-services and meet unit-specific education requirements.
  • Complete variance reports accurately and in a timely manner.
Decision-Making & Working Relationships
  • Apply independent judgment in planning work sequences and making minor decisions in a complex clinical environment.
  • Work directly with patients, families, internal teams, and external customers.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, allied health professionals, and support staff.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 0-6 months of related nursing experience.
  • Experience with Epic electronic medical records.
  • Working knowledge of disease state management, clinical pathways, and the bio-psychosocial care model.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage workload efficiently.
  • High attention to detail, particularly when reviewing clinical and numerical data.

Required Education
  • Completion of an approved professional nursing program, with a diploma or degree recognized by a state board of nursing.

Required Certification & Licensure
  • Valid State of Oklahoma or multi-state Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications.
