Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders. Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Job Requirements

Must have current nursing license with Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start. Pharmacology 1 or 2 exam required prior to start and updated every 3 years thereafter with minimum 80% score. Completion of Ascension Specialty Exam prior to first assignment and updated every 3 years with minimum 80% or national benchmark passing score. Completion of Ascension Core Competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics within a year of start and updated every 3 years.

Completion of Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation prior to start. Completion of Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding prior to start. Completion of Ascension Nova Stat Strip prior to start. Completion of Ascension Cerner Test-Out prior to start. Documented proof of two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted. Fit Test required and preferred to be completed prior to start, updated annually.

Documentation of Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or declination signed and dated. Influenza vaccine required during flu season; exemptions accepted with mask requirement. Positive IGRA or PPD results, chest X-ray within a year of start, and TB Questionnaire completed; updated annually. Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually. Valid Driver's License/State . Two Step PPD or IGRA required prior to start.

Documented proof of Varicella immunity or vaccination; no declinations accepted. Tdap vaccination valid for 10 years required. Ascension Profile (resume) required for submission. At least two professional references required prior to first assignment. Completion of Ascension Criminal Background Check within 30 days of first assignment and updated annually. Completion of Ascension EPLS within 90 days of start and rerun if break in service >90 days.

Completion of Ascension Skills Checklist within one year of start and updated annually. 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start and updated annually. Verification of education relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start. Ascension Confirmation of Assignment required upon initial assignment and updates. Third-party employment verification for past seven years required and updated annually. Ascension Badge Photo required.
