Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility of new and returning donors for plasmapheresis procedures and immunizations by conducting evaluations to ensure criteria of plasma donors are met and in accordance with SOPs, FDA, CLIA, and cGMP.
- Review informed consent forms for plasmapheresis and immunization, explaining procedures, potential adverse events, immunization schedules, possible antibody formation, and dose administration while giving donors the opportunity to decline participation.
- Perform medical history reviews and health assessments for donors.
- Use SOPs to facilitate compliance with regulations.
- Review donor management system and/or immunization paperwork to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Review accumulated data in a timely fashion to confirm eligibility and consult with the donor center licensed physician as needed.
- Classify donors to appropriate programs.
- Monitor donor reactions to plasmapheresis and document accordingly.
- Perform duties for the Hyperimmune Program, if applicable, as described in SOPs.
- Review all normal and abnormal test results in the donor management system (Nexlynk) to determine continued donor eligibility.
- Ensure confidentiality of employee, donor, and donor center records while performing all duties.
- Counsel donors with abnormal test results or eligibility concerns and defer them according to the donor deferral matrix; refer them to the appropriate county/state health department or similar for follow‑up and diagnostic testing when applicable per SOP.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Graduate of a recognized healthcare‑related educational program (e.g., Physician, Nurse (Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse)); certified/licensed as an EMT (Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced/Paramedic) if allowable.
- Must work within the scope of the professional license/certification, as defined by the state in which the work is performed.
- One (1) year of experience in a hospital, field care, or plasma center is preferred.
- Maintain current and valid license and pass medical credential evaluation.
- Successfully complete the training program and competency assessments using OPI‑approved training modules or curriculum.
- Maintain current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification.
