Peer Recovery Support Specialist - CrisisCare Center

$19.00 per hour, $2K annual program premium plus excellent benefits! Work in partnership with others as part of a structured inter-disciplinary team, within a Certified Community Behavioral Health Center (CCBHC) model. Under immediate to general supervision, the Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) provides peer support services in a culturally sensitive way; serves as an advocate; provides information and peer support for consumers in emergency, outpatient or inpatient settings.

The PRSS performs a wide range of tasks to assist consumers in regaining control of their lives and recovery processes. The PRSS will possess the skills to maintain a high level of professionalism, ethics, and interactions with all ODMHSAS stakeholders. Demonstrates knowledge of co-occurring disorders and appropriate interventions. Services are predominantly delivered to an adult population who carry a serious mental illness, substance abuse, co-occurring and/or medically co-morbid diagnosis.

• Use expertise in lived experience to assist in client care.
• Assist with de-escalation.
• Continually re-evaluate de-escalation processes through the lens of a consumer with lived experience.
• Provide feedback to leadership on ways to improve de-escalation techniques used on the unit.
• Engage with consumers by sharing stories of hope, recovery, and self-care.
• Provide an environment of hospitality, through consistent engagement with consumers, by assisting with needs and requests.

High School diploma or GED. Minimum one-year participation in local or national consumer advocacy or knowledge in the area of mental health recovery. Preference may be given to applicants who are current or former consumers of mental health services. This job is classified as a “safety-sensitive” position as defined by the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act. Due to the “safety-sensitive” classification, an employee in this position would be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing.

Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana license will not excuse you from the testing process or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana per the Family & Children’s Services Drug Free Workplace Policy, including possible revocation of a job offer or dismissal from employment.

• Peer Recovery Support Services (if you do not already have, you will obtain after hire)
• Case Manager I Certification (to be completed within 60 days of eligibility)
• Wellness Coach Certification (if you do not already have, you will obtain after hire)
• Valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record (required for travel and client transportation)

• PRSS Certification: $26 application fee (required before start date).
