Job Overview

This position is responsible for screening, testing, evaluating, diagnosing and treating injuries, diseases, and disabilities using occupational therapy procedures and modalities in accordance with standard occupational therapy practices. The role includes consulting, educating, and training patients, families, and caregivers and collaborating with care teams to deliver quality patient‑centered care.

Employment Type

Full‑time, 36 hours per week

Compensation

Hourly rate: $42.66 – $65.82, depending on experience.

Essential Functions
  • Promotes mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health and abides by service standards.
  • Provides skilled occupational therapy services, staying updated on standard practices for different patient groups; conducts evaluations and treatments according to professional standards (AOTA).
  • Develops care plans with specific goals based on patient assessments, considering diagnosis, history, and physician referrals.
  • Meets established productivity standards for the department or service line.
  • Keeps thorough and timely patient records as required by regulations and facility policies; completes patient billing accurately and promptly.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers about patient needs and goals.
  • Manages all aspects of patient care and education, including supervising assistants, aides, office staff, and students.
  • Participates in and promotes continuing education opportunities for self and staff.
  • Engages in quality improvement processes, including safe equipment use, improving clinical outcomes, patient access, patient experience, and all aspects of the Intermountain Operating Model; participates in utilization review audits.
  • Participates in patient care conferences, interdisciplinary meetings, staff meetings, and professional work groups in collaboration with leadership.
  • Contributes to program development and marketing strategies to grow the occupational therapy program and achieve department goals.

Qualifications
  • Current Occupational Therapist license in the state(s) where you work.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Possess skill sets and experience with target population of the job setting.
  • Current driver’s license, reliable transportation, and acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Splinting skills.
Physical Requirements

Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies. Frequent verbal communication with patients and providers is required. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers for manipulating delicate equipment; extensive computer use and typing. Expected to lift, bend, and carry supplies up to heavy items. Walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients, push/pull gurneys and portable equipment.

May be required to stand for extended periods.
