As a Dietary Cook, you will play a vital role in bringing this vision to life by preparing and delivering nutritious, delicious meals that bring comfort and satisfaction to our residents.
Job SummaryAs a Cook, you will work closely with the dietary team to follow dietary guidelines and accommodate special dietary needs, while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. Your culinary skills and care will enhance the overall well-being and sense of home for our residents in our skilled nursing facility.
Responsibilities- Meal Preparation: Cook meals according to planned menus and specialized diets (e.g., low sodium, diabetic, gluten-free).
- Menu Adherence: Follow standardized recipes and portion control procedures to ensure quality.
- Kitchen Safety: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in compliance with health regulations.
- Resident Needs: Adjust recipes to accommodate residents’ dietary restrictions and personal preferences.
- Inventory Management: Assist in ordering, stocking, and properly storing food supplies.
- Collaboration: Work with dietary staff and healthcare professionals to review menus and address resident concerns.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of food temperatures, portion sizes, and dietary modifications.
- Training: Participate in ongoing training to stay current with food safety standards and best practices.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; culinary certification or degree preferred.
- Experience: Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting. Experience with special diets is a plus.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of food safety, recipe adherence, organizational skills, and excellent communication.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift and move heavy kitchen objects and supplies as needed.
