Career Pathways for Pharmacy Professionals:
- The pharmacy technician specialist is responsible for the day-to-day operations of technician specialty practice areas (billing, diversion, automation, medication history, and others).
- Provides user support, perform maintenance activities and troubleshooting, monitor proper functionality, and ensure policies and procedures are both documented and followed.
- Coordinates upgrade testing activities, education, and serves as the subject matter expert for the technician specialty practice area.
- Does related work, as required and, under the supervision of a pharmacist, will assist in the technical, non-clinical aspects of preparing medications for dispensing, mixing IVs, managing inventory, and assist in pharmacy operations.
Job Requirements:
- High School graduate or GED.
- Must have at least three years of previous hospital pharmacy technician experience (inclusive of training programs).
- One year of experience with an identified specialty system/process.
- Active Registered Pharmacy Technician in good standing with the Board of Pharmacy, if required by the state of employment.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT).
- BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
Preferred
Job Requirements:
- Associates/bachelor s degree.
- PTCB/ASHP Specialty Credentials (applicable to the specialty practice area).
