The Coordinator II Community Outreach will assist in the development and maintenance of educational materials, the navigation and assistance services provided to mental health assistance center callers, and the community-based engagement of Education programs. Education materials include but are not limited to an education library, resource pages, power point presentations, and translated materials for non-English speaking individuals. This position will assist in the navigation and assistance provided with mental health assistance inquiries.
This position will develop and maintain collaborative relationships for dissemination of education materials, including but not limited to internal staff, external partners, and community partners. The Outreach, Prevention, and Education Specialist will be expected to have excellent organization, public speaking, and presentation skills. This role requires the development and implementation of research based, evidence-based education materials and training in order to comprehensively disseminate mental health education to the target communities.
This role requires positive communication skills such as excellent phone and conversation ability in high stress situations. This role requires a collaborative person with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop mental health educational materials based on research and best practices.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with community partners and entities.
Implement training with community partners and entities.
Provide navigation assistance with mental health related inquiries in the mental health assistance center.
Assist Outreach, Prevention, and Education team members with community-based engagement.
Translate education and resource materials into non-English languages, as skilled.
Complete tasks in a reliable, timely, and collaborative fashion.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Fluent in both English and Spanish High School Diploma/GED required.
Minimum one year experience in education, communication, or customer service.
Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, and Google documents.
A strong candidate would be an innovative and creative thinker who is able to work collaboratively as part of a larger team.
A strong candidate would have previous experience working with groups or teams and community-based efforts.
Shows initiative, consistency, and drive to deliver timely results related to mental health education, training, navigation, and engagement.
Possesses interpersonal skills and judgement with which to represent the Association appropriately across all settings, especially in presence, communication, and professionalism.
Must be available and regularly engage with Association staff and external community partners.
Familiarity with research based and evidence-based information.
Displays positive communication skills such as excellent phone and conversation ability in high stress situations.
Displays a high level of collaboration with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to assist in the development of translated materials, resources, and services.
WORK CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is performed in climate-controlled setting, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is unlikely.
Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of aggregate residential living, including multiple conversations, ringing phones, intercom announcements.
Staff will report any environmental hazards encountered in normal performance of job duties and will not handle or otherwise be exposed to hazardous conditions.
Work requires a flexible work schedule.
Ability to effectively communicate orally.
Physical ability to move 25 pounds.
Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards of the site and staff and/or resident behavior.
Physical mobility and endurance to perform tasks while standing/walking for long periods of time.
Ability to safely and properly use equipment.
