Chaplaincy Position
The purpose of the position is to offer spiritual care services to patients and families, using their theological training to help patients and families cope more effectively. This position coordinates and supports clergy, pastoral visitors, and volunteers from the religious community. This position will be scheduled on a pro re nata basis meaning this position is utilized on an as needed basis.
This position will float between our three hospitals, Council Oak Comprehensive Healthcare (Tulsa), Muscogee Nation Medical Center (Okmulgee), and Creek Nation Community Hospital (Okemah) as needed. Local travel is required. Incumbent must be insurable to drive a GSA vehicle.
Work is performed in an office and inpatient health care setting. There is common exposure to infectious and communicable diseases, potentially hazardous chemicals, and biohazardous materials. Must be willing to take personal precautions as requested. The work may include a certain amount of exposure to hostile and/or emotionally disturbed patients, families, and visitors. Position may require on call services as needed in response to patient and hospital needs.
The work includes the demands of both normal office work and dealing with patients in a hospital setting. Substantial time spent with patients and family members which requires a high degree of spiritual sensitivity, emotional energy and mental alertness. Must have mobility throughout the Department of Health facilities, significant time may be spent walking and standing. Driving is required.
