- 4:00 p.m., 40 weeks/year (following the Family Learning Center calendar with summers off). Optional opportunity to work two Fridays per month, 7:30 a.m.

The Family Learning Center Occupational Therapist provides occupational therapy services to children with special needs using Little Light House's transdisciplinary approach. This position provides direct therapy, group therapy, and consultation support within the Family Learning Center program, which serves families through weekly classes designed to equip and empower families to thrive and find joy in their child.
The Occupational Therapist collaborates with families, teachers, therapists, and community providers to support children ages birth through six in areas including sensory processing, motor development, fine motor skills, self-help skills, social-emotional development, and overall participation.
As a key member of the transdisciplinary team, the Occupational Therapist supports children with a variety of developmental needs, including children on the autism spectrum. The team utilizes neuro-affirming, child-centered approaches to support each child's individual strengths, communication style, sensory needs, and developmental goals.
The Family Learning Center Occupational Therapist understands and embraces that they are part of Little Light House, a Christian ministry with Biblical core values whose mission is to glorify God by improving the quality of life for children with special needs, their families, and communities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Occupational Therapy Services- Provide occupational therapy services through individual intervention, group activities, and family consultation.
- Collaborate with the transdisciplinary team to create flexible and engaging class routines that incorporate therapy, education, and parent involvement.
- Prepare and implement weekly therapeutic lesson plans aligned with the Bible-based curriculum, including appropriate adaptations for students.
- Design and lead therapeutic activities connected to classroom curriculum and student goals.
- Develop appropriate therapeutic goals in collaboration with families and the transdisciplinary team.
- Measure and track progress toward student goals.
- Provide individualized therapeutic support and guidance to students and caregivers during sessions.
- Consult with classroom staff and families regarding equipment, sensory needs, behavioral strategies, self-care skills, fine motor development, and other therapeutic needs.
- Model therapeutic, sensory, behavioral, and equipment strategies for classroom staff, parents, caregivers, and volunteers.
- Provide recommendations regarding adaptive equipment and assistive technology as needed.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other transdisciplinary team members regarding the overall therapeutic needs of students.
- Consult with outside therapists, professionals, and agencies providing services to students to ensure coordinated care.
- Provide in-service training and education to staff, volunteers, and families as requested.
- Support families by helping identify needs and connecting them with appropriate community resources and services.
- Participate in transdisciplinary meetings, committees, and task forces as assigned.
- Complete evaluations, documentation, progress updates, and assigned paperwork accurately and within required timelines.
- Participate in assistive technology and therapeutic equipment recommendations as needed.
- Advocate for children with special needs through teaching, collaboration, and therapeutic projects that support children's development and independence.
- Attend daily Flock.
- Attend weekly Family Learning Center meetings.
- Attend required Children Services events, including family gatherings and graduation.
- Participate in Little Light House fundraising events.
- Attend workshops, seminars, Children Services in-services, and relevant conferences as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
