Health Information Manager-HIM

Health Information Manager (HIM) | Tulsa, OK We are seeking an experienced Health Information Manager (HIM) to lead the day-to-day operations of the Health Information Management department. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, security, and timely management of patient medical records while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards.

• Direct and oversee Health Information Management (HIM) operations, including legal medical records, record completion, and release of information functions across multiple facilities.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, Joint Commission, state, federal, and organizational regulations by maintaining and updating departmental policies and procedures.
• Monitor daily department workflows, productivity, and turnaround times while implementing process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with Information Technology and clinical departments to support EHR optimization, documentation integrity, data standards, and workflow enhancements.
• Lead medical record conversion, storage, and documentation improvement initiatives.
• Supervise, hire, onboard, train, schedule, coach, and evaluate HIM staff while supporting ongoing professional development and cross‑training.
• Adjust staffing levels to meet operational demands and departmental goals.
• Prepare and analyze productivity, quality, and performance reports.
• Serve as the primary HIM resource and liaison for physicians, leadership, clinical departments, and external stakeholders.
• Oversee release of information requests, legal medical record processes, subpoenas, and regulatory requests.
• Manage departmental budgets, supplies, and operational resources.

• Minimum 5 years of management experience in Health Information Management or a related healthcare leadership role.
• Experience with budget management, operational oversight, staffing, and resource allocation.
• Advanced knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) implementation, optimization, and electronic health information systems.
• Strong understanding of HIPAA, CMS regulations, Joint Commission standards, documentation compliance, and legal medical record requirements.
• Working knowledge of medical coding principles.
• Experience managing release of information processes and responding to subpoenas and legal medical record requests.
• Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, coaching, and communication skills with the ability to lead teams and drive process improvements.

Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or a related field.
