OB-GYN Medical Assistant (Womens Health Medical Assistant)

Pay: $18/hour + DOE

Schedule: Monday Friday

Job Type: Temp-to-Perm

Location: Tulsa, OK

OB-GYN Medical Assistant Must-Have Requirements

  • Completion of accredited Medical Assistant program
  • CMA or RMA certification preferred
  • Current CPR certification
  • 12 years of experience in OB-GYN or womens health preferred
  • Experience with EMR systems and medical documentation
  • Knowledge of insurance verification, prior authorizations, and referrals
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

OB-GYN Medical Assistant Position Summary

The OB-GYN Medical Assistant supports providers in delivering high-quality, compassionate womens healthcare. This role includes both clinical and administrative duties, assisting with obstetric and gynecologic procedures, coordinating patient care, and maintaining accurate medical records in a fast-paced womens health clinic.

OB-GYN Medical Assistant Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Greet and room patients; record vital signs and medical histories
  • Assist providers with Pap smears, pelvic exams, IUD insertions, and ultrasounds
  • Prepare exam rooms and sterilize medical instruments
  • Administer injections and medications as directed
  • Educate patients on procedures, medications, and follow-up care
  • Support prenatal and postpartum patient care coordination
  • Schedule appointments and follow-up visits
  • Manage EMR documentation accurately and efficiently
  • Perform insurance verification, prior authorizations, and referrals
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and compassionate bedside manner

OB-GYN Medical Assistant Additional Qualifications

  • Experience in obstetrics, gynecology, or womens health clinic settings
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced medical office
  • Professional demeanor and patient-focused attitude
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medical records

At least two years of medical assistant experience in a clinic environment

* Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.

* Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.

* Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records.

* Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patients.

* Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.

* Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.

* Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.

* Help physicians examine and treat patients, handing them instruments or materials or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures.

* Greet and log in patients arriving at office or clinic.

* Perform routine laboratory tests and sample analyses.

* Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking dictation, or completing insurance forms.

* Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.

* Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.

* Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by physician.
