Surgical Scheduler Tulsa, OK | Full-Time | Monday-Friday Starting at $17.00/hour DOE | Temp-to-Hire

Keep Every Detail of the Surgical Process on Track! A busy and well-established specialty clinic in Muskogee is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Surgical Scheduler to join their team. This position is responsible for coordinating surgical procedures, obtaining insurance authorizations, counseling patients on their surgical and financial responsibilities, and working closely with physicians, hospitals, surgery centers, and insurance companies. If you have strong attention to detail, enjoy helping patients, and have experience with surgical scheduling or insurance authorizations, we'd love to hear from you!

Must

Haves:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience obtaining insurance authorizations for surgical procedures.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn practice management software.
  • Knowledge of medical insurance and billing processes.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced medical environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Schedule office and hospital surgeries, including pre-operative and post-operative appointments.
  • Prepare consent forms and required surgical paperwork for patient signatures.
  • Follow up with patients who schedule surgery by phone to ensure all required forms are completed.
  • Counsel patients regarding surgical procedures, insurance coverage, deductibles, and financial responsibilities.
  • Explain patient responsibility and cash pricing when applicable.
  • Initiate financial arrangements and collect required payments prior to surgery.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, effective dates, deductibles, and patient responsibility prior to surgery.
  • Obtain all required insurance authorizations and certifications for surgical procedures.
  • Coordinate with hospitals and surgery centers to reserve surgical time, equipment, and supplies.
  • Communicate with patients regarding insurance requirements and expected out-of-pocket expenses.
  • Work closely with Insurance and Billing departments to ensure accurate coding and billing.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Follow HIPAA and OSHA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
Nice to Haves:
  • Previous experience in an ophthalmology or ophthalmic practice.
  • Surgical scheduling experience.
  • Experience working directly with insurance companies and surgery centers.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance requirements.
  • Familiarity with CPT and ICD coding.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic medical terminology, diseases, and medications.
  • Experience with electronic medical records or practice management systems.

  • Ability to explain medical, insurance, and financial information clearly to patients.
