Phlebotomist I - South Creek

This full-time contract Phlebotomist role in Tulsa, OK supports a merger and acquisition transition within a collaborative healthcare team. The Phlebotomist I will focus on accurate venipuncture and specimen collection while providing excellent patient service in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Responsibilities
  • Perform venipuncture and specimen collection procedures accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with established protocols.
  • Collect blood and other specimens using appropriate techniques and equipment, including butterfly needles and CPT-related procedures as required.
  • Verify patient identity and information before each collection to ensure accuracy and patient safety.
  • Label specimens correctly and maintain proper documentation to support laboratory processing and tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards throughout all phlebotomy and specimen handling activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper handling and disposal of supplies and biohazard materials.
  • Provide courteous, professional customer service and positive patient interaction during all collection procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively with healthcare team members to support smooth workflow in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Follow all required screenings, compliance procedures, and organizational policies related to patient care and laboratory operations.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent phlebotomy experience.
  • Proficiency in venipuncture and blood draw techniques, including routine and more complex specimen collection.
  • Strong specimen collection skills with attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Phlebotomy certification or equivalent demonstrated phlebotomy competency, as required by local regulations.
  • Ability to verify patient information and follow strict specimen labeling procedures.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards in a laboratory or clinical setting.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to a collaborative workflow.
  • Excellent communication skills, including clear, professional interaction with patients and colleagues.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to provide a calm and supportive experience for patients.
  • Ability to pass all required screenings and compliance requirements.

Skills & Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education.
  • Experience working in laboratory or clinical settings handling specimens.
  • Pediatric phlebotomy experience, including comfort and skill in drawing blood from children.
  • Experience working in high-volume healthcare environments with fast-paced workflows.
  • Familiarity with butterfly needle techniques and related phlebotomy equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
Work Environment

This position is fully onsite in a clinical healthcare setting in Tulsa, OK. The Phlebotomist works Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, providing full-time hours within a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The role involves frequent patient interaction, close collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, and adherence to laboratory safety and quality standards. The work area is maintained as clean, organized, and compliant with regulatory requirements, with standard clinical attire appropriate for direct patient care and specimen handling.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr.
