Description
JOB SUMMARY
- Under the direct supervision of the Patient Services Manager serves as Pod/Clinic Front Desk and performs all related clerical functions according to current practices, routine and established procedures.
- Greets patients in a friendly, professional manner.
- Liaison between patients and staff.
- Remains calm under pressure and handles difficult situations tactfully. Maintains a sense of humor.
- Respects patient confidentiality.
- Ultimately provides Excellent Customer Service to all patients and staff.
- Inputs all information provided by the patient into PCIS. Completely and accurately enters the information.
- Instructs the patients in completing HIPAA and other necessary paperwork required by the pod/clinic and in the use of the I-pad. Scans paperwork into system(s).
- Verifies that the patient’s paperwork has been filled out completely and the patient has read and signed all documentation.
- Scans patient information in a timely manner and in accordance with established procedures.
- Ability to make follow-up appointments, move patients as needed from one day to another. Also, ability to add appointments for walk-in patients.
- Is responsible for completing tasks within the EMR.
- Takes pictures of the patient and imports them into Uro Chart.
- Adds the patient’s preferred pharmacy information into Uro Chart.
- Verifies insurance eligibility for all Medicaid patient and scans documentation into PCIS
- Calls patients to confirm appointment that system was unable to reach.
- Collects payments and co-pays from patients for visit and Rx.
- Accurately balances receipts and money daily. Totals and transmits daily credit card payments in accordance with the guidelines.
- Demonstrates timely completion of duties. Assists co-workers in completion of duties when time allows.
- Shares information or concerns effectively with co-workers.
- Offers ideas and solutions to problems and assists in implementation of solutions. Constantly looking for ways to improve USO.
- Is a self-starter, motivated to complete additional duties when time allows and demonstrates a positive attitude.
- Demonstrates the ability to establish and maintain a cooperative relationship with co-workers.
- Responds cooperatively to supervision.
- Strives to improve employee relations and morale.
- Detail oriented and accurate in work. Maintains an orderly work area in a professional manner.
- Knows how to handle and evaluate problems, when to ask for assistance.
Observes the following Urologic Specialists policies and procedures:
- Dress code
- Parking in the appropriate area for the facility
- HIPAA/Compliance training
- Phone calls-limits personal calls and cell phone use
- Observes proper working hours
- Dependable-Requests time off within guidelines
- Adheres to the attendance policy.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma.
PREVIOUSEXPERIENCE:
6 months - 1 year work experience involving public contact or equivalent background. Prefer computer and insurance experience.
JUDGMENT, PLANNING, INITIATIVEREQUIRED:
Must use good judgment and discretion in greeting and screening patients and in obtaining personal information required for patient’s medical record.

- Basic typing skill (45 wpm) - Pleasant voice and works well under pressure. Must possess the ability to work as a team in order to complete the daily task assigned. Initiative during idle times to keep busy.
