Role Description This full-time, on-site Outpatient Cardiac Rehab Exercise Specialist role is based in Tulsa, OK. The Exercise Specialist supports patients in outpatient cardiac rehabilitation by leading individualized and group exercise sessions, monitoring patient responses to exercise, and adjusting exercise prescriptions under clinical guidance. Daily responsibilities include conducting assessments, tracking vital signs, documenting patient progress, and collaborating with cardiologists, nurses, and other team members to ensure safe and effective rehabilitation plans.
The role also involves educating patients and families on heart-healthy lifestyle changes, proper exercise techniques, and risk factor management. The Exercise Specialist contributes to a supportive, inclusive environment that promotes patient engagement, safety, and long-term recovery.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Exercise Physiology and Exercise Prescription for cardiac rehabilitation populations.
- Hands-on experience in Cardiac Rehabilitation and leading Group Exercise sessions in clinical or wellness settings.
- Proficiency in Strength Training principles tailored to individuals with cardiovascular conditions.
- Relevant bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field; advanced certification (e.g., ACSM, AACVPR) preferred.
- Ability to monitor vital signs, interpret basic cardiac responses to exercise, and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to patient safety, inclusive care, and clear patient education, with strong interpersonal and documentation skills.
- CPR/BLS certification required; prior experience in hospital-based or outpatient rehabilitation settings is highly beneficial.
