POSITION TITLE:

Daytime Crisis and Treatment Plan Therapist

Possession of a Master’s degree in clinical counseling, social work, or other mental health related field from an accredited graduate school. Must be licensed or licensed eligible. (LPC, LMFT, LBP, LCSW). Bilingual preferred. Requires willingness and ability to work irregular hours as needed to ensure quality standards are met in service delivery.

• Ability to establish working relationships with clinical, administrative, and support staff as well as community partners to develop professionalism and coordination within the team.
• Must possess advanced knowledge of current social and economic problems; of human behavior; mental illness and substance abuse issues; crisis intervention techniques; of available community and welfare resources; and of psychiatric and medical terminology.
• Must possess ability to provide trauma-informed care and a commitment to the Sanctuary Model components.
• Ability to diagnose, intervene, and effectively treat persons in need of mental health and/or substance abuse services.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply evidence-based practices.
• Ability to communicate clearly and in an emotionally intelligent manner with clear, polite, and respectful communication with staff, clients, and the community-in person, through written correspondence and on the telephone.
• Must always demonstrate professional and ethical behavior as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality guidelines for interactions regarding client information.
• Ability to work well under pressure, meeting deadlines with efficiency and consistency while maintaining a balance between good physical and mental health and the job requirements.
• Ability to promote a service environment for individuals in need of behavioral health and/or co-occurring services that is recovery focused, welcoming, and attentive to the needs of individuals who may have experienced trauma in their lives.
• Basic computer knowledge and ability to use Microsoft software such as Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Responsibilities:

• Will provide daytime crisis stabilization and linkage to appropriate services when necessary in person or via telehealth. A, D
• Provide a range of accessible crisis services which divert individuals experiencing behavioral health crises from inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, jail, and emergency rooms. A, B, D
• Provide immediate crisis interventions whether on phone or in person; including a threat of suicide or harm to others; utilizing skills/interventions to de-escalate individuals who are agitated, anxious, angry, or in other vulnerable emotional states. Integrate risk assessment for suicidality early on in clinical interview process; eliciting suicidal ideation and behaviors, warning signs of imminent risk, and protective factors individuals may have.

• Collaboratively develop emergency safety plan/safety promise with individual and/or family that ensures safety, matches the individual’s competency and skill level, and incorporates the person’s strengths and supports. B, D
• Determines, in collaboration with a team, the level of care needs of the individual. B, D
• Link and refer individuals to the appropriate mental health or substance abuse treatment facility when needed and follow up to ensure the client receives needed care. Coordinating services between agencies and developing cooperative working relationships with agencies. B, D
