Description
Job Summary:Manages and leads the Banquet Department to provide guests with quality food and beverage events and ensures a first-class experience.
Banquet ManagerEssential Duties and Responsibilities
include the following; however, other duties may be assigned:
- Ensures guests receive professional, efficient, prompt, and courteous service; resolves guest issues.
- Works closely with POSTOAK management teams, including but not limited to sales and kitchen teams, to produce first-class events for guests.
- Attends weekly operations meetings, conducts twice-weekly Banquet Event Order (BEO) meetings, and holds periodic banquet staff meetings.
- Coordinates employee and temp labor schedules.
- Trains, develops, and supervises banquet supervisor, banquet servers, bartenders, and barbacks.
- Ensures that all service areas (back and front of house) are clean, sanitized, and organized.
- Ensures employees safely handle food and beverages as required by safety and sanitation requirements.
- Manages inventory of beer and wine in Willow Marketplace
- Executives Banquet Event Orders, orders linens and specialty items for BEOs and processes invoices in a timely manner.
- Ensures BEOs are updated daily with accurate cover and revenue information for night audit.
- Ensures breakdown and cleanup of events are complete and ready for the next service event.
- Communicates with the Executive Chef regarding guest needs, including but not limited to, changes, special requirements, meal additions, discrepancies, etc.
- Ensures service of alcohol is in accordance to applicable Federal, State, and Local laws.
- Upsells food and beverage products when appropriate.
- Manages inventory including maintaining adequate inventory levels of beverage and snack products, paper goods, and coffee break items.
- Conducts monthly liquor inventory records and reports, meets inventory deadlines.
- Purchases liquor and processes all invoices in a timely manner.
- Oversees point of sales systems for banquets and bars and ensures accurate reporting.
- Provides superior customer service in the variety of service styles offered at POSTOAK including but not limited to, buffet, boxed, plated, cookout, reception, coffee break, and social. Adjusts customer service to fit service style.
- Prepares tables and table settings according to Banquet Event Orders. Inspects all table related set up and settings for cleanliness, damage, proper placement, and quality.
- Prepares buffet stations to ensure maximum accessibility and convenience. Inspects all related set up and settings for cleanliness, damage, proper placement, and quality.
- Provides knowledgeable course descriptions as needed, including ingredients used, and is prepared for and answers questions.
- Presents and delivers food to guests. Checks for quality and customer satisfaction. Provides related seasonings or condiments.
- Introduces and connects with group leader, allowing open communication and handles day of changes and pivots when necessary.
- Safely and properly handles silverware, glassware, service ware, food, and beverages as required by the safety and sanitation requirements.
- Working Manager, must be able to set up, run and execute meal service and bar service single handedly and confidently on occasion, maximizing payroll
- Serves as Manager on Duty when working events.
- Initiates contact with the group contact and ensuring BEOs are executed properly, ensuring and elevated guest experience.
- Clears table, silverware, glassware, service ware and other food in accordance with serving style, utilizing trays, and tray jacks when needed.
- Follows guidelines established in the Banquet Staff Tasks and Standards.
- Promptly responds to and resolves guest issues and complaints. Ensures guest satisfaction.
- Responds to requests, needs, and job function with thoroughness and a sense of urgency.
- Sanitizes, cleans, and organizes work and banquet space on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Assists with training new servers as instructed by management.
- Accurately assists with taking inventory as requested.
- Loads, delivers, and/or unloads food, beverages, ice and/or other items as requested. Items may weigh up to, and in excess of 75 lbs.
- Recruits, interviews, and trains new banquet staff.
- Actively builds relationships with team members and is a team player. Treats all POSTOAK employees, managers, and customers with respect.
- Dresses professionally in accordance with company dress code and area uniform requirements.
