Overview

The Tulsa City-County Library (TCCL)
System Administrator is responsible for creating, deploying, and maintaining computer images for Staff and Customer PCs; maintaining end-point antivirus protection, maintaining print servers, managing time and print management software, and serves as a Tier 3 level support resource that works both directly with Staff and with the Service Desk and with other IT work groups. This position also works with IT leadership by evaluating and recommending the purchase of hardware and software.

The Central Library, located in the heart of downtown Tulsa at Fifth and Denver, serves as the hub of the Tulsa City-County Library system, providing essential support services to all 25 library locations. The IT Department is headquartered at the Central Library and plays a critical role in supporting technology operations system-wide.

Key responsibilities
  • Manages PC management server and client software, antivirus and security software;
  • Installs and configures applications to enhance efficiency, compatibility, and user satisfaction;
  • Reviews user needs and available technology to recommend software configuration changes enhance efficiency, compatibility, and user satisfaction while maintaining endpoint security;
  • Troubleshoots hardware and software problems, working with vendors, users, and with internal IT teams to resolve issues;
  • Evaluate technology for making recommendations to purchase hardware and software to satisfy staff and Library customers while maintaining IT security and best practices;
  • Provides support with other specialists during operations hours, over weekends, and holidays;
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing PC Client systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems;
  • Actively supports TCCL’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion efforts, and the Library’s Be All In culture;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Ability to configure, install, and manage Windows and iOS devices using device management systems such as SCCM and Simple

    MDM;
  • Working knowledge of PC Networking;
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server OS
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows OS administration;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Intune, while not required would be a plus
  • Working knowledge of Windows licensing
  • Working knowledge of patch management
  • Knowledge of PC configurations and PC protocols;
  • Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products;
  • Extensive experience with core software applications, including BMC client management software or similar applications
  • Experience with Print Management services, such as Paper Cut and ePRINTit
  • Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required;
  • Highly self-motivated and directed;
  • Keen attention to detail;
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities;
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in various situations;
  • Strong service commitment for the customer and for other IT teams;
  • Good verbal and written communication skills;
Education & Experience
  • Associate’s degree in computer science or telecommunications, Bachelor’s degree preferred;
  • Certifications in CompTIA Security+ or CCNA, Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, and/or Microsoft Endpoint Administrator Associate highly desirable;
  • Three to five years related experience, or equivalent technical training and education;
  • Valid Oklahoma driver’s license;

Starting Salary Range

Starting Salary Range: $4,717.00 - $5,900.00 / month

Schedule

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm

Physical Activity & Environmental Conditions

Work routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items, such as equipment, boxes (up to 40 pounds) and/or very long periods of walking on a routine basis, and/or standing for long periods of time and/or frequently requires stooping and bending. Work environment involves no major sources of discomfort; work is essentially conducted in a normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions.

Routine in-town travel may be required occasionally.
