Job Summary
The Field Technician provides on-site technical support for restaurant operations, ensuring reliable performance of point-of-sale (POS) systems, hardware, networking components, and related technologies. This role requires strong customer service skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to delivering high-quality technical solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service while supporting restaurant operators and staff
- Install, maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair POS systems, hardware, peripherals, and related equipment
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently, clearly communicating solutions to end users
- Document work performed, maintain system configurations, and execute hardware/software upgrades or replacements
- Perform light contractor tasks such as drilling, mounting hardware, and running cabling to support installations and repairs
- Train staff on proper use of supported systems and equipment
- Diagnose product failures, order replacement parts, and complete repairs as needed
- Recommend appropriate products, services, or solutions based on operational needs
- Apply working knowledge of restaurant operations and backend workflows to support effective technology integration
- Follow established procedures and guidelines while working independently or with minimal supervision
- Report to a Team Lead or Field Services Manager
Required Qualifications
- Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing POS systems, computer hardware, or related technology preferred
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (IP, connectivity, cabling, etc.)
- Ability to perform light physical/contractor tasks (drilling, mounting, lifting equipment)
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and participation in an on-call rotation
- Reliable transportation for travel between customer locations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting restaurant or retail technology environments
- Familiarity with network cable installation and termination
- Experience with field service or on-site technical support roles
