Position

Summary

The Data Center Analyst will monitor the health of servers, storage, and networking environment throughout the enterprise, which encompasses deep dive analysis from multiple enterprise monitoring systems. Provides first and second level end-user support and assists other members of the Server Engineering and Network teams during troubleshooting activities. This position will work closely with other Operations team members in all aspects of Intel, Midrange, Storage, Backup, and Networking to support the more senior members of the team.

Daily work will include rack and stack physical servers and building virtual servers. Conducts physical audits of each datacenter and ensures each server rack is clean and consistent. Performs continuous analysis of production jobs, backup processes, system monitors and server availability and provides solutions working with all groups impacted. As necessary, interfaces with other IS support teams to resolve problems or maintain the information systems environment.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure successful production jobs, backup processes, system monitoring and server availability.
  • Monitor and ensure timely acknowledgement of all monitoring systems (Solar Winds Orion, IBM Systems Director, Logic Monitor, etc.)
  • Monitor clinical and financial application environment and address variances according to established procedures.
  • Monitor system back‑ups and remediate any failed backups.
  • As requested by other Operations team members, perform hands‑on data center functions (Examples: reboot server, execute script, check status of an application or system, etc.)
  • Responsible for management and maintenance of distributed server hardware and software solutions to deliver infrastructure and application development project initiatives as it pertains to the Ardent strategic roadmap.
  • Required to administer systems within corporate change management, incident management and request systems, and properly escape issues to management and work with peers for interactions with vendors on issue resolution.
  • Assist more senior members of the team configuring infrastructure components.
  • Support project delivery by building servers, racking equipment, and cabling equipment according to industry best practice standards and corporate policies.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date documentation on maintenance, installation, and configuration of all infrastructure services and hardware.
  • Interfaces with other IS support teams to resolve problems or maintain the information systems environment.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all Data Center Operations Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Qualifications

    Education & Experience:

    • Associate’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent technical training.
    • 3+ years experience in Information Systems.
    • Experience in a 24/7 mission critical environment.
    • Experience with hardware support of IBM or Cisco UCS servers.
    • Experience utilizing enterprise system monitoring tools such as IBM Systems Director, Solar Winds Orion, or Logic Monitor.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Working knowledge of server platforms such as Windows, VMware, AIX, Linux, or Unix.
    • Knowledge of enterprise storage platforms such IBM or EMC SANs, Isilon NAS, or Data Domain.
    • Knowledge of networking fundamentals such as WAN connectivity, VLANs, DHCP vs static IP addressing, ping, tracert, etc.
    • Knowledge of virtualization technologies from VMware and Citrix.
    • Knowledge of server hardware configurations, blade chassis, as well as copper and fiber cabling for network and storage.
    • Knowledge of remote administration capabilities using tools such as IP KVM's, IMM, ILO, iDRAC, etc.
    • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws (HIPAA).
    • Knowledge of ITIL framework.
    • Experience with Server and Network cabling, KVM connectivity, and ILO remote connectivity.
    • Must have good communication skills: both oral and written.
    • Must display the ability to be a team player and work well with employees at all levels.
    • Must be able to exercise good judgment and follow established procedures during stressful, time critical scenarios.
    • Must be able to work independently and demonstrate initiative in ensuring processes and procedures are current.
