The RoleBaseline Responsibilities working in a Broadcast Technician capacity:
Technicians will operate within a 24/7 service center, supporting Service Delivery and Service Management functions for Lumen Vyvx clients. This role is primarily aligned to the evening shift, extending through midnight, and includes regular coverage of weekends and holidays.
Flexibility is a key requirement, as technicians must be available to support varying 24x7 shift schedules (day, evening or mid-night), including holidays, weekends, and overtime, often with short notice to meet business and operational demands.
This is an onsite only position in Lumen's Tulsa, OK location.
The Main ResponsibilitiesResponsible for coordinating broadcast television services utilizing multiple Vyvx fiber optic networks, satellite, teleport, and vendor facilities while ensuring service level standards are met. Schedule and switch broadcast signals into the control center for visual confirmation. Responsible for confirming a valid broadcast signal from source, and verbally validating Vyvx services to clients. Extend and goodnight reservations in‑service. Responsible for all broadcast service restoration during outage and impairment situations.
Ensures proper system connectivity to transmit broadcast services; verifies for correct video/audio levels at each venue prior to transmission; particularly HD‑SDI, UHD, and 4K technology. Troubleshoots/repairs system connectivity, refines system/equipment problems, outages, interferences, and other network issues to ensure effective performance and provide trouble ticket resolution and documentation of action taken. Connects/disconnects macros in the routing system for videos ordered and records the start/end connection path in the transmission database.
Creates/monitors customer ordered transmissions through network or satellite, from origination to destination.

- Associate degree or equivalent education and relevant experience
- May require technical certification.
- 3+ years of experience with IP Network functions such as MPLS, Internet, Ethernet, and Managed Services signal flow.
- Fundamental knowledge of OSI model, Routing Protocols and Hardware Platforms to include BGP, OSPF, TCP/IP, IP Routing, Juniper or Cisco.
- Intermediate to Advance understanding of Broadcast Video distribution flows and technology, HD‑SDI, UHD, HDR/SDR, 4K.
- Demonstrates initiative to deliver against assigned objectives with minimal supervision.
- Ability to self‑start and work independently with minimal supervision.
